Royal C Stud Holsteiners       

Royal C Stud specializes in Holsteiner Jumpers and Hunters.  Dr. Guy Hodgson, an experienced jumper rider for over 40 years, has been passionate about horses and riding since a young boy.   During a fateful trip to Berlin, Guy and his wife Kim found a young mare, Royal Contender, in a pasture as a three year old and their dreams of becoming horse breeders started to materialize. 

Our mare line is focused on Stamm 1916.  Foundation mare, Royal Contender ( Contender / Aloube Z / Capitol 1 / Credo ) is full sister to the International jumping stars Controe ( Marco Kutscher) and Lassergut Contour ( Eric Navet).  RC has a third full brother, Chogun who placed in the 6 yr old  finals of the 2005 Bundeschampionate under Marco Kutscher........  Every indication is he too will go International in the sport.  Royal Contender completed her mare evaluation in Germany where she was awarded Premium; she also successfully completed her mare performance test and received a 9.5 out of 10 for free jump. This puts her in the top 5% of all Holsteiner mares in Germany for her age group!

One of our stallions, Albarez, from Stamm 95 (Alcatraz / Loutano / Fernando / Mephisto) was recently approved as a breeding stallion by the American Holsteiner Horse Association.  As one of only four stallions approved by the AHHA in 2005, this is a great honor.  Please select our stallion page for pictures and information on our stallions.  Contact us for additional information on Albarez and we will be offering discounts for multiple breedings. Albarez's foal crop is very impressive!

Update:  Zuri, by Albarez, was awarded Premium at the Holsteiner Foal Inspections September 9, 2007!  In addition two Albarez foals were awarded Premium Silver at the RHPSI inspection in August 2007.

Another of our stallions, L-King Arthur has been approved by the AHHA in 2007 based on his outstanding performance record in the jumper arena and his bonits.  King Arthur is from Stamm 456 (Lavall I / Calvados II / Tumbled xx / Ramzes AA).  He is full brother to Lavados, German approved stallion.  He received 50 points with an 8 for Type, 8 for Topline, and 8 for Canter! L King Arthur's foal crop is outstanding!

 

Our Mission

Our mission is to breed and develop top quality Holsteiner jumpers and hunters.  We try to learn from the European breeding programs  but also keep an open mind to what will produce the best sport horses in the future.  

We enjoy discussing bloodlines and seeing the performance history of the lines.  Both the stallion and the mare contribute the the foal and we feel it is important to look at performance history on both sides. We recommend when evaluating a horse it is best to look at both the pedigree AND most importantly the individual and consider your goals for sport and/or breeding.

We are currently located outside of Houston in Katy, Texas.  We continue to develop our farm which is in Driftwood, Texas outside of Austin.  We have 60 acres in the Texas hill country with a beautiful creek winding through the property.

Announcement:  March 6, 2008 the Hodgson triplets made their way into the world. All three are boys: Hunter, Matthew and Dylan Hodgson.  They were healthy and beautiful but very premature so keep them in your thoughts and prayers! They are still in the Texas Children's Hospital growing.  They were all born weighing about 2 pounds.  Pictured below: Right to Left: Dylan, Matthew, and Hunter.
