ALCATRAZ

Born 1985

16.3-1/2 AloubeZ/Ronald/Anblick xx

 Stamm 242

Alcatraz won his European 100 Day Test with the highest score ever to that point with a 10 in jumping. Because of the results of his offspring (116 mares and 5 stallion sons) Alcatraz is FIRST in his FN ranking for his age group.

Alcatraz's offspring are very elegant, inherit their father's presence and are usually black or bay with plenty of white. The German show judges have witnessed the consistent ride-ability of the sons and daughters of Alcatraz in the Dressage ring and jumper ring. His bloodlines make him attractive to Holsteiner breeders.

Alcatraz has sired AKINOS (Champion of the 1993 Stallion Approvals in Schleswig-Holstein) and the other approved sons AURELIO I, ALCAZARO, ARNSTEIN E, and ARGENT. Two of his daughters, DAESY, and DANA successfully competed in the Federal Championships for show jumpers.

In 2006, Alcatraz was listed as one of the top 5 stallions for producing Hunters in the USA. For more information, visit http://www.usef.org/content/pointsAwards/leadingSirePoints.php?year=2006&viewCat=Hunter

ALOUBE Z

 Born: 1979

ALOUBE Z, 1979 Br 170cm Hanoverian. [310196579]. Placed 15th of his class in 1990, winner in jumping exams to Class S. Sire: Alme Z, Dam: Gotendirndl Z.

ALME Z

Born: 1966

Covering history: France from 1971 to 1974, Zangersheide 1975 to 1985, France 1986 to 1991, passed away in 1991

The golden bay Anglo-Norman stallion Almé Z is a phenomenon. Without ever having stood at stud in Germany, the 1966 French born Ibrahim son influenced almost all the German warm blood breeds from the Belgian model stud farm of Zangersheide. Before he went to stud in Belgium, he had already performed covering duty at his French home and left the approved sons Galoubet, I love you and Jalisco, all of whom have played a role in international show jumping. Almé Z was himself a successful international show jumper with Francois Mathy and Johan Heins and transmitted his gift for jumping lavishly to his progeny.

In Holstein, Almé Z produced there main stallion lines: Aloubé Z, Athlet Z , and Ahorn Z.

LOUTANO

Born 1988
Stamm 4093

Loutano completed the Stallion Performance Test in 1988 in Adelheidsdorf, placing 3rd out of 72 with a score of 136.63. Loutano received scores of 134.79 (4) for his incredible ride-ability and 122.31 for jumping.

Loutano is the son and at the same time great-grand son to the incredible hereditary transmitter of show jumper, Landgraf. The combination with Calypso I completes the image of a top modern sire with versatile heredity.  Loutano was the Reserve Champion of the 1990 Holsteiner approvals because of his type and movement and also because of his conformation. Following many wins in confirmation classes, Loutano competed successfully in the Federal German Riding Horse Championships in Munich 1991 where he placed 3rd in the final for three year olds.

Loutano's predisposition for dressage enabled him to attain continued success within the discipline. Margit Otto Crepin has had international dressage success with Loutano at the Grand Prix Level. In 1998 the pair placed 4th place at the Grand Prix Special in Beck located in the Netherlands.

In the 2000 FN breeding value rating Loutano was listed among the top 20 of show jumpers in his age class. Loutano has so far produced 9 approved sons including Lorentin and Lothringer.

Landgraf I

1966-1996

Landgraf I has been labeled by many "Stallion of the Century." His genes are securely anchored in the breed of the modern sport horse. His offspring have won just under seven million dollars mainly in show jumping and is still growing.
Nearly 60 colts by Landgraf I have been licensed for the Holsteiner stud book, like the champion of 1991, Linaro, and the dressage talent, Loutano. Some of his sons have already achieved top positions as performance sires, for example, Letus II, a jumping sire, and the versatile Landadel.  So far, 340 broodmares by Landgraf I are registered in the German Holsteiner stud book, 260 of these are in the Head Stud Book, 70 have been awarded State Premium, and a considerable number have been champion mares at shows.

Landgraf had a very good temperament which he passed on dominantly, together with excellent movement. In his Stallion Book of the Holsteiner Warm blood Breed, Dr Dietrich Rossow comments: "Imposing appearance with enormous crest and neck carriage. Smooth total top line and much presence. Beautiful face with marvelous eye. Long, rather broad neck, long sloping shoulder. Well shaped, muscular croup. Strong bone. Good in front. Good mover. Marvelous temperament. Phenomenal jumper; tight in front, lots of bascule, careful and talented. He produced a huge number of international class jumpers. Up to now (the book was published in 1988) Landgraf is far and away the most important jumper sire in the world!"

When you visit Elmshorn, Germany, these days, and you stop at the century-old "Riding and Driving School", then you are where the heart of the Holsteiner Horse Breeding is beating.  And there you meet that characteristic shape of Landgraf I in front of the complex, the symbol of the modern Holsteiner Sport Horse and performance sire. The original himself died in 1996 at the age of 30.  In his article in Breeding News (August 1999) French journalist, Pascal Renauldon records the great stallion's passing: "On 10 April 1996, the Holstein breeders had celebrated, with great pomp, their charmed stallion, during a ceremony which had assembled some of his most celebrated progeny: Libero H, Taggi and some 30 others. Exactly one month after this hommage, Landgraf passed away due to heart failure, even though his physical condition had showed no signs of decrepitude. His strong back was not swayed, his proud eye of a dominant stallion and imposing neck were still as superb as when they appeared on photographs of him as a youngster."

LADYKILLER

Ladykiller embodied the powerful type of the thoroughbred. He was a strikingly handsome stallion with pronounced masculine attributes. He had an excellent mastery of the three basic gaits and was blessed with the best character and temperament values. He clearly transmitted himself, his marked type, the magnificent head, correct and powerful foundation and excellent jumping ability in regard to capacity, manner of jumping, leg technique and above all spirit. His best stallion sons by far, Landgraf I and Lord were both bred out of mares who themselves had significant proportions of the best thoroughbred blood.

RONALDRonald

 Born 1970

Ronald was a very good son of Ramiro with expression, presence and a smooth top line. Nicely shaped shoulder and croup. Heavy bone, correct legs and feet. Over stride in walk, very good trot, and good canter. Good under saddle, with considerable jumping ability with very good form. Ronald produced big framed horses with scope and rather flashy markings. He improved on the legs and feet of mares. His foals were born with light coats which darkened later. Masculine offspring are coarser while mares were more refined.

Ronald produced 5 approved sons and 88 approved daughters.

Ramiro Z

Born 1965.

Produced many successful progeny. Sire: Raimond, Dam: Valine Z.

When Ramiro was presented for selection, he was described as the ideal type of the modern Holsteiner - strongly imprinted by his dam, tall and elegant, showing the top line of his grandfather, Cottage Son xx, with powerful frame, a glorious face and large, clear eyes. His excellently formed neck, beautifully set, could still be seen, even when he was an old horse, and are stamped on his progeny. Ramiro displayed a very good walk, a normal trot.
